All Ireland Air Ambulance now flying

G-CDBS All Ireland Air AmbulanceThe newly formed All Ireland Air Ambulance - a charity planning to provide dedicated air rescue services - held a first publicity demonstration on the helipad of Tralee General Hospital today. While the helicopter they showed is not at all a new machine (see below for details) the efforts of the people involved in the action are most welcome and everybody living in the often rugged southwest of Ireland will be glad about any new means for providing medical aid quickly whenever needed. Storm over Tralee

Storm damages a disused fuel filling station in TraleeAfter a severe weather warning issued by Met Éireann for today the weather turned out to be very windy indeed. Thankfully nobody got injured and the friendly Gardaí took care of the traffic and the people passing by while the loose ceiling was getting fixed. The picture was taken less than fifteen minutes before writing this post and the storm is still roaring outside…

New “green” streetlights up and running

New low energy LED street lighting in TraleePeople visiting The Square in the redeveloped town centre of Tralee have always been delighted with the great lighting installation, which (up to last week) consisted of blue airport-like “taxiway” lights embedded in the ground and standard street lights which were fixed to the walls of the adjacent buildings. While the former stays unchanged, the standard light bulbs for the street lighting had to go and where replaced with newly developed, low energy LED-lights.  [»]
