A newly written comment by Stevie regarding my post about the conversion of the old Tralee-Fenit railway line showed me that there might easily be a confusion of two quite different things mentioned on this page. Currently two major tourism related projects are going ahead in and around Tralee, both involving old railway lines. [»]

As already reported earlier, the Lee Valley Park project will be one of the biggest investments in tourism infrastructure of this decade. And today is a big day for the project: work has started near the Aqua Dome. As all this will completely have changed the landscape between Tralee and the Blennerville Windmill in a couple of months, I today decided to take some final panoramic pictures of the area as it looks now. One of them actually dates back to juli 2007, when even the old stonebridge hadn’t been touched yet. Enjoy! [»]

After several months without any major news from Tralee I today decided to call the blog back into action, for the tourist season is about to kick in here in Kerry and some things of interest may indeed happen here over the summer months. I think I will start with some updates on the ongoing efforts to make the town more attractive both to guests as well as citizens.  [»]

After having heard about the exciting project first at last year’s Kerry Bicycle Festival it seems that the new walk- and cycleway between Tralee and Fenit is now in the final stages of planning and may even be finished very soon. Although I understand that some discussions are still going on with owners of properties adjacent to the track I no longer doubt that the ambitious new way can and will finally become a reality. [»]
